Sarah Godsill- Meeting Points 11th June - 24th July
Sarah Godsill 'Meeting Points'
11th June- 24th July
Exhibition opening Friday 10th June 6-8pm
Sarah Godsill returns to The Why Gallery with a new body of work looking at moments of gathering, time spent together around a table. Sarah will be exhibiting a collection of mono prints, ink drawing & oil paintings.
'The title of the exhibition is borrowed from Louis MacNeice’s 1939 poem, Meeting Point.* My work explores memory, whether from personal experience or the historical memory of family stories remembered as well as the many tales untold. Tables often reappear in the imagery as the heart of family life, but they are also often at the centre of other meetings, whether big reunions or quick catch-ups with friends and family, or perhaps the occasional chance encounter. The prints, drawings and paintings in Meeting Points are a combination of table meetings experienced, remembered and imagined as well as a few favourites from films'

“Time was away and somewhere else,
There were two glasses and two chairs
And two people with the one pulse
(Somebody stopped the moving stairs):
Time was away and somewhere else.”
